Clay-Lined Earthen Manure Storage Facility

Expansion to liquid manure storage facility accommodates increase of 2.5x to hog production facilities.

A hog producer was seeking approvals for an expansion to his intensive livestock operation. BMCE was retained to provide engineering services to accommodate the manure that would be produced by the addition of hogs resulting from the barn expansion.

BMCE completed a topographical survey and sized the tertiary lagoon cell to accommodate the anticipated loading. A preliminary design was prepared in compliance with regulatory requirements and was utilized for permits and approvals. Once the intensive livestock expansion was approved, BMCE completed the detailed design of the cell and prepared a project construction manual to guide the landowner as he built the expansion.

BMCE provided construction administration services including checking grades, verifying compaction, and inspecting the liner.
