Feedlot Expansion

A cattle producer was seeking approvals to increase his feedlot operation from an existing 300 animal units to 1500. BMCE was retained for the development of new pens and drainage infrastructure to accommodate this expansion.

BMCE commissioned a detailed geotechnical soils investigation and a detailed topographical survey of the existing feedlot and adjacent land. BMCE created a site plan and the grading and drainage plans for the confinement areas. BMCE then designed the stormwater collection areas to ensure runoff from the pens was properly contained. The new pens were constructed with compacted clay, for which BMCE provided construction coordination, inspections, and materials testing.

The feedlot expansion was approved and constructed in accordance with all applicable codes and regulations. It is successfully operating as intended, providing beef for the Manitoba and Canadian markets.
