BMCE provided approvals support and advocacy to gain provincial and municipal approvals for the expansion of a broiler barn operation.
Livestock operations in Manitoba beyond 300 Animal Units require an in-depth review to ensure all applicable regulations and safeguards are adhered to. A broiler producer retained BMCE to provide approvals support to expand their existing broiler operation and add an all-barn to their existing site.
BMCE compiled the required documentation and analyzed the livestock operation and proposed expansion to determine if all regulations and best practices were being adhered to. This included analysis of the water supply, manure management plan, manure storage and field application program, environmental protection and nuisance mitigation measures. BMCE prepared the application on behalf of the producer and presented the project to the municipal council and the provincial Municipal Board.
The expansion was granted its conditional use order in Fall 2021. Construction of the broiler barn and multipurpose barn, as well as the installation of a new shelterbelt to contain dust and odours, is anticipated to begin in Spring 2022.
