Sewer and water systems upgrades to Meadowbrook Village allows for expansion of 49-Lot development and construction.
Growing demand for housing prompted Meadowbrook Village to seek engineering services to complete the design and approvals for Phase 1 of their trailer park expansion. With Meadowbrook’s current potable water supply and wastewater treatment systems at capacity, temporary facilities were required to service Phase 1 that could be incorporated into future upgrades, while also capable of servicing Phases 2-4 at final build out.
Balancing the efficiency of future upgrade requirements and minimizing construction costs for Phase 1, Burns Maendel designed a 49-lot development with temporary water and sewer systems capable of initially servicing 11 lots. Following design, Burns Maendel oversaw 41,000m3 of earthworks, open-cut trenching of 850m of water, 605m of sewer, and 74m of culvert piping, the installation of a sewage lift station, and the installation of water and sewage holding tanks. Stormwater management is mitigated using overland drainage and ditching.
Optimizing the existing topography, this design allows for significantly less earthworks in future phases while also ensuring the continued use of a gravity sewer system to the lift station.
